Step into Your New Role

As a Construction Inspector II, you will perform general construction inspection tasks to verify compliance with standards, codes, ordinances, zoning regulations, as well as contract plans, specifications, and special provisions. Projects will consist of bridges, roadways, and environmental components.

This position is available in Northern Virginia, Richmond, Lynchburg, Christiansburg, and Hampton Roads areas of VA.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and monitors construction sites and various work activities to verify adherence to standards, codes, and specifications.
• Prepares daily reports documenting inspections and other relevant project information.
• Verifies lines and grades of project improvements.
• Coordinates and performs field testing of materials associated with inspection as required.
• Implements quantity calculations for pay estimates.
• Performs analytical calculations such as basic earthwork, grading, profiles, and special staking procedures.
• Communicates verbally and in writing with contractors, owners, and project stakeholders as directed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years in the field or in trade‑related training in design, construction inspection, construction materials engineering/testing, or other construction related field.
• Knowledge and experience with equipment used in construction inspection and field testing of construction materials.
• Must be able to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently.
• Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential requirements.
• Familiarity with PC‑based computer systems and/or tablet systems.
• Current/valid State Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass a fingerprint/background check.
• Construction field materials testing certifications (e.g., asphalt, concrete, workzone, pavement marking, environmental, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent including courses in related work type.
