Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a Construction Inspector II to join our team in multiple VA locations. You will perform general construction inspection tasks to verify compliance with standards, codes, and plans for bridges, roadways, and environmental components.

Responsibilities include site inspections, daily reports, line-and-grade verification, field testing coordination, pay quantity calculations, and clear communication with stakeholders. A valid driver's license and English fluency are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in construction inspection or related field.
• Knowledge of inspection equipment and field testing of materials.
• Able to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently.
• Valid State Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
• Must pass fingerprint/background check and vendor credential checks.
• Certifications in field materials testing (asphalt, concrete, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Inspects and monitors construction sites to verify adherence to standards and plans.
• Prepares daily inspection reports and project documentation.
• Verifies lines and grades of project improvements.
• Coordinates and performs field testing of materials as required.
• Calculates quantities for pay estimates and basic earthwork calculations.
• Communicates with contractor, owner, and stakeholders in writing and verbally.

Step into Your New Role

As a Construction Inspector II, you will perform general construction inspection tasks to verify compliance standards codes, and ordinances, zoning regulations, as well as contract plans, specifications, and special provisions. Projects will consist of bridges, roadways, and environmental components to these services.

This position is available in the Northern Virginia, Richmond, Lynchburg, Christiansburg, and Hampton Roads areas of VA.

Responsibilities:

• Inspects and monitors construction sites and the various work activities on these sites to verify adherence to standards, codes, and specifications.
• Prepares daily reports documenting inspections and other relevant project information.
• Verifies lines and grades of project improvements.
• Coordinate and perform field testing of materials associated with inspection as required.
• Implement quantity calculations for pay estimates.
• Performs analytical calculations such as basic earthwork, grading, profiles, and special staking procedures.
• Communicates verbally and in writing with contractor, owner, and project stakeholders as directed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years in the field or in trade-related training in a design, construction inspection, construction materials engineering/testing, or other construction related field.
• Knowledge and experience with equipment used in construction inspection, and field testing of construction materials.
• Must be able to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently.
• Attendance, punctuality and reliability are essential requirements.
• Familiarity with use of PC-based computer systems and/or tablet systems.
• Current/valid State Driver\'s License REQUIRED with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass a fingerprint/background check.
• Construction field materials testing certifications, i.e. Asphalt, concrete, workzone, pavement marking, environmental, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree or equivalent to include courses in related work type.
