Job Description

General Responsibilities:

Perform daily inspections of construction projects, monitoring quality and adherence to building code requirements, construction drawings, and project specifications. Inspections may cover multiple disciplines or within a specific area of expertise, including structural steel, concrete, masonry, fireproofing, etc. Inspection activities may include visual/physical inspections and field testing to verify conformance with plans and specifications. Prepare inspection reports and document observations and testing results in writing. Communicate findings to engineers or project managers and collaborate with the project team on potential issues when requested. Adhere to strict safety standards.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed, following training and specified procedures.
2. Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
3. Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
4. Perform basic data analysis to verify accuracy before communicating and submitting to the Project Manager.
5. Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
6. Draft inspection reports for review by senior inspectors and/or Project Managers.
7. Assist senior inspectors on projects as needed.
8. Maintain equipment and calibration.
9. Follow safety rules and practices, perform pre-task planning, and report safety issues to management.
10. Maintain quality standards on all projects.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.
• 2-4 years' experience as an Engineering Technician or relevant experience.
• 1 year experience in construction inspection preferred.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Required Certification:

• Completion of related internal safety certifications.
• One or more of the following certifications:
• NICET Level II in Construction Materials Testing or Geotechnical.
• ICC certification in areas like Reinforced Concrete, Structural Steel, Fireproofing, Masonry, Prestressed/Post-Tensioned Concrete.
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
• ASNT Level II in Visual Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Dye Penetrant Testing, Radiographic Testing, Ultrasonic Testing.
• Other relevant national, regional, state, or local certifications.
• ACI certifications such as Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I or Concrete Strength Testing Technician.
• Certification in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation (if applicable).
