Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) in Baton Rouge is seeking a Construction Inspector to assist professional engineers and inspectors in inspection work. The role requires a valid class E driver’s license, ability to work nights/weekends, and may involve extreme weather.
Training and continuing education are part of the position. Appointment type can be probational or promotional with multiple inspector levels and hourly pay.

The overall function of this position is responsible for assisting professional engineer and/or higher level inspectors in the performance of construction inspection work. This position is located in District 61, Unit 236/East Baton Rouge Parish of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Construction Inspector Supervisor. This position is subject to drug testing per LADOTD policies and work shift work such as nights, evenings, weekends, and rotating. This position requires a class E driver’s license and may work in extreme weather or hazardous conditions. The incumbent must be self‑motivated and be able to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.
