We have an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated Construction Inspectors for VDOT projects in the Lynchburg, VA region.

Responsibilities Include

1. Inspect Transportation Construction Projects: Ensure all work and materials meet project plans, proposals, and specifications.
2. Perform Key Measurements & Calculations: Verify weights, volumes, and measurements for accuracy.
3. Prepare “As-Built” Documentation: Plot and run cross sections, document project progress.
4. Conduct Materials Testing: Ensure materials meet quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
5. Daily Documentation: Record all inspection activities and findings in detailed reports.
6. Work Outdoors: Enjoy working in different weather conditions and environments.
7. Physical Responsibilities: Be prepared for heavy lifting and manual tasks as part of inspections.
8. Travel Across the State: Visit construction sites across Virginia to ensure compliance.
9. Independent Work: Take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision.
10. Flexible Hours & Travel: Expect extended hours and occasional overnight stays.

A valid driver’s license is required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have Any or All of the Following

1. An associate degree (or higher) in Construction Management or related field (preferred).
2. Project Management experience on VDOT projects, including rural and urban roadways, freeways, and interchanges.
3. Client management experience.
4. Experience preparing project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
