Job summary

GFT is seeking a Construction Inspector in St. Louis, MO for our Hybrid work model. The role focuses on inspecting and overseeing construction to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, while serving as the daily point of contact with clients and contractors.

This position includes materials testing, documentation, and management of a project from start to finish. The ideal candidate has 0-4 years of inspection experience, a safety-first mindset, and strong written and verbal

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • 0-4 years construction inspection experience.
  • Experience in construction, inspection, material testing, or transportation engineering on highway projects.
  • Safety-first mindset and strong written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
  • Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
  • Observe work in progress to ensure procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications.
  • Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing.
  • Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and approvals.
  • Interpret plans and specifications for contractors and discuss deviations from specified procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Record quantities of materials received or used; develop pay estimates and change orders.
  • Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports.
  • Monitor several types of work activity, but not simultaneously.
  • Maintain construction safety practices and work methods for compliance.
  • Manage documents using platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport.

GFT is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Construction Services Team in St. Louis, MO. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our St. Louis, MO office. What You’ll Be Challenged to Do

This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated Construction Inspector who thrives in a collaborative team environment. This individual inspects and oversees construction work to ensure that results, procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications. This individual will serve as a daily point of contact with clients and contractors, and manage all aspects of a project including construction observations, material testing and maintaining documentation.

  • Monitor several types of work activity, however not simultaneously.
  • Maintain construction safety practices and work methods for compliance.
  • Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma.
  • 0-4 years of construction inspection experience.
  • Experience in construction, inspection, material testing, or transportation engineering for highway projects structures on state MODOT, municipal, and/or municipal projects.
  • A safety-first mindset.
  • Strong writing, listening and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar state MODOT certification are recommended, but not required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients and contractors to solve problems and conflicts.
  • Ability and desire to lead.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $20.00 - $29.00 per hour (dependent on experience and location).
