Job summary

Stanley Consultants in Saint George, Utah, is seeking a Construction Inspector to perform field tests and inspections onsite. The role requires preparing daily reports, verifying contractor workmanship, and maintaining inspection logs in coordination with project teams.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in construction, strong documentation skills, and the ability to read plans. Out-of-town work may occur with per diem and housing arrangements provided as needed.

Qualifications

What You Will Be Doing

• Physically performs field-required tests and inspections
• Prepares daily reports, item entries, and documents test results; attends progress meetings with the contractor, owner, and project engineer
• Assures the quality of the contractor\'s work
• Maintains daily logs of inspections and reviews any discrepancies with the proper parties
• Operates a company vehicle as required; maintains an acceptable driving record

Required Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of construction-related experience in a field applicable to the work assignment, with emphasis on roadway and bridge construction and inspection preferred
• Good communication and documentation skills (Word, Excel, internet-based document management); ability to perform with minimal supervision
• General knowledge of construction techniques and the ability to read plans and specifications
• Knowledge or experience with UDOT and/or other municipal government construction management procedures preferred
• Ability to disseminate learned knowledge to other Construction Observers and Material Testing Technicians

Certifications

• WAQTC, ACI, UDOT IQP, a plus; willingness to add certifications as needed

Physical Demands

Entails manual labor, including lifting and transporting up to 50 lbs. Ability to work at and maneuver around construction sites in various weather conditions; must be able to climb ladders, scaffolding, and trenches. Height or confined spaces may pose challenges.

Other

This position may require out-of-town work; per diem and housing arrangements will be provided. Work hours vary week to week to align with the on-site general contractor schedule. May involve proximity to a nuclear density gauge and operation of this equipment if required by the company.
