Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience as a PennDOT Technical Assistant or 2 years in construction inspection.
  • Bachelor's degree in a non-Civil Engineering field or an active PE license.

Job description

RK&K is currently seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors, Supervisors, and Managers (TCI, TCIS, TCM) for PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and municipal highway and bridge projects throughout Eastern Pennsylvania. This is a field position primarily based at specific construction sites within Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, and Schuylkill counties in PennDOT District 5.

Essential Functions
  1. Work on various roadway and bridge projects within the region's geographic area
  2. Oversee contractor’s quality control operations
  3. Conduct quality assurance sampling and testing
  4. Complete daily sampling and testing reports
  5. Prepare daily inspection reports (PSA's or IDR's)
  6. Maintain daily communication with clients, contractors, and project personnel
Required Skills and Experience
  1. One (1) year of experience as a PennDOT Technical Assistant
  2. Or at least two (2) years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience
  3. Or at least four (4) years of highway or bridge construction, non-inspection, or design experience
  4. Or possess a Transportation Technology Construction Inspection certification from an accredited program approved by the Department
  5. Or hold a Bachelor of Science degree in a non-Civil Engineering field
  6. Or hold an Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  7. Or hold a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  8. Or possess an active Professional Engineer (PE) license
Preferred Skills and Experience
  1. NICET Highway Construction Inspection Level 2 or higher
  2. NECEPT Asphalt/Bituminous Field Testing Technician Certification
  3. ACI/PennDOT Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification
  4. Experience with PennDOT ECMS v3 and PPCC
  5. Experience performing field inspections for roadway and bridge projects
  6. Proficiency with electronic tablets, computers, and Microsoft Office
  7. Ability to navigate construction sites in various terrains and weather conditions
  8. Flexibility to work day and/or night shifts as required
  9. Ability to multitask and work independently
  10. Ability to obtain a Professional Engineering License
  11. Own vehicle and valid driver’s license required
