Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed inspections of ongoing construction activities, particularly heavy earthwork operations such as excavation, grading, and soil compaction.
- Verify all construction work meets approved plans, specifications, and engineering standards; monitor implementation of construction drawings.
- Identify and document deviations or non‑conformance issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and standards; conduct regular safety audits.
- Assist in tracking project timelines and milestones, prepare progress reports, and provide technical guidance to construction crews.
- Work closely with the Resident Engineer, Chief Inspector, site superintendent, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of transportation construction experience, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field (or equivalent experience), and proven experience as a Civil Inspector/Engineer focusing on heavy highway work.
- Familiarity with local construction codes, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines; strong knowledge of civil engineering principles related to earthworks construction and site development.
- Attention to detail, proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues, ability to work outdoors and handle physical demands of a construction site, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Proven problem‑solving and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Successful completion of drug‑screening and random drug and alcohol testing.
