HDR is seeking an experienced Civil Inspector to conduct inspections on transportation construction activities, particularly in heavy earthwork operations in Purchase, NY. The role requires verifying compliance with engineering standards while monitoring safety regulations.
Ideally, candidates will have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent experience with at least 5 years in transportation construction. A solid benefits package and competitive compensation ranging from $36.52 to $52.17/hour for the White Plains location are provided.
Conduct detailed inspections of ongoing construction activities, focusing on heavy earthwork operations such as excavation, grading, and soil compaction. Verify that all construction work meets approved plans, specifications, and engineering standards, monitor the implementation of construction drawings, identify and document deviations or non‑conformance issues, and recommend corrective actions. Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and standards, conduct regular safety audits, assist in tracking project timelines, prepare progress reports, and provide technical guidance and support to construction crews. Work closely with the Resident Engineer, Chief Inspector, site superintendent, contractors, and other project stakeholders to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
