Construction Inspector (Civil and / or Structural)

My name is Bill Stevens, and I have a new full-time Construction Inspector opportunity available for a major firm located in North Babylon, Long Island that could be of interest to you. Responsibilities:

The firm is seeking a resident engineer on-site for civil-structural related work. Current projects include an Electric Power Generating Station in Brooklyn, NY, where the firm is overseeing the rehabilitation of a large pier including the encasement of piles below the waterline, as well as overseeing geotechnical investigations of potential future development sites. Other current project sites include a Generating Station (façade and structural remediation efforts) and a power plant (pier and pile cap restoration projects).

The ideal Construction Inspector for these projects may be on-site approximately 2 days per week and will oversee the contractor’s work as well as coordinate with our outside dive inspection consultant. Additional work includes oversight of construction of large commercial and industrial pre-engineered metal buildings. The balance of the time, the candidate may be in the firm’s offices in North Babylon or assist on other project sites within the tristate area.

Experience:

The ideal candidate should possess a PE (Professional Engineering) education, which is preferred; however, a candidate with EIT (Engineer in Training) and possesses field construction or construction oversight experience, particularly in the civil and/or structural disciplines, will be considered. This position requires the ideal candidate to possess either a civil and/or structural engineering background.
