  • Background in construction management, including familiarity with schedules, RFIs, change orders, and coordination with contractors and design professionals.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reports and coordination with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with basic office software; experience with inspection or project-management software is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites in various weather and site conditions.
  • Education or training in construction, engineering, architecture, or related field; certifications in inspection or construction quality control are advantageous.

Responsibilities

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid Construction Inspector role based in Honolulu, HI, with some work-from-home flexibility depending on project needs. The Construction Inspector is responsible for performing on-site inspections of civil and vertical construction projects to verify compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and quality standards. Daily activities include observing construction work, documenting field conditions, preparing inspection reports, and communicating findings to project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients. The role involves monitoring materials and workmanship, checking asphalt and other infrastructure work, verifying corrective actions, and supporting quality control and construction management processes. The Construction Inspector will also assist in coordinating with the multidisciplinary MAI team, attending project meetings, and contributing to continuous improvement of inspection procedures.



Qualifications


  • Strong skills in Site Inspections and Inspection, with the ability to assess compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes.

  • Experience in Quality Control practices, including monitoring workmanship, materials testing coordination, and documentation of nonconformance and corrective actions.

  • Knowledge of Asphalt construction and related infrastructure work, including placement, compaction, and surface quality requirements.

  • Background in Construction Management, including familiarity with schedules, RFIs, change orders, and coordination with contractors and design professionals.

  • Understanding of local building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations; prior experience on public infrastructure or building projects is beneficial.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents with strong attention to detail.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for report writing and coordination with project stakeholders.

  • Proficiency with basic office and field documentation software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, digital photo logs); experience with inspection or project management software is a plus.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites in various weather and site conditions.

  • Relevant education or training in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related field; certifications in inspection or construction quality control are advantageous.
