Job summary

K SINGH & ASSOCIATES INC is seeking a Construction Inspector to assist in managing infrastructures. You will work with engineers, field supervisors and subcontractors, performing inspections, measurements and documentation to support project management.

The role requires knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and land surveying, with 1–3 years of field experience, and a valid driver’s license. Field work may dominate time depending on project needs.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Survey, or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of experience in this role.
• 1–3 years’ experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Previous field experience including construction projects is preferred.
• Prefer experience in Land Surveying techniques.

Responsibilities

• Inspect work performed by Contractors and Subcontractors on the job site.
• Observe work in progress.
• Measure quantities of work performed.
• Enter quantities into bi-weekly estimate for Contractor payment.
• File Daily Reports in Field Book or Field Manager.
• Attend weekly construction meetings.
• Document work performed with regards to plans and specifications.
• Assist in collection of materials for testing.
• Support the Construction Management Team as needed.

Job description

Purpose of Position

The Construction Inspector includes providing construction inspection support in the management and construction of infrastructures. This position works in the office with engineers as well as field construction supervisors and subcontractors. Construction Inspectors support the project management process by performing tasks such as limited construction management and administration, materials inspection and engineering, construction survey, and owner representation.

Essential Functions

1. Inspect work performed by Contractors and Subcontractors on the job site
2. Observing work that is being performed
3. Measure quantities of work performed
4. Enter quantities into bi-weekly estimate for Contractor payment
5. File Daily Reports in Field Book or Field Manager
6. Attend weekly construction meetings
7. Document work performed by Contractor with regards to plans & specifications
8. Assist in the collection of materials for testing
9. Support the Construction Management Team as needed

Physical Demands of Position

While performing the duties of this position the employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers. The employee occasionally must reach above and below shoulder level to be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform some physical labor.

Environmental/Working Conditions This position may split his/her time between an administrative office and working in the field. It may require field work up to 100% of the time based on project needs.

Job Specifications

1. Associates Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Survey, or equivalent experience
2. Prefer someone with 1-3 years of experience in this role.
3. 1-3 years’ experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
4. Previous field experience including construction projects is preferred.
5. Prefer experience in the current technique and application of theories, precepts, and practices of Land Surveying.
6. Ability to provide survey field support as needed.
7. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
8. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, and the ability to work long hours while maintaining concentration.
9. Must have good interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
10. Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
