Role Description The Construction Inspector is a full-time, on-site role based in Fort Myers, FL, responsible for monitoring transportation and infrastructure construction projects to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable standards. Day-to-day tasks include performing field inspections, documenting work progress, verifying materials and workmanship, and reporting deficiencies or safety concerns to project managers and engineers. The role involves coordinating with contractors, project stakeholders, and public agency representatives, reviewing construction schedules and work methods, and assisting with resolving field issues. The Construction Inspector will also prepare inspection reports, maintain accurate records, support quality control activities, and help ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with regulatory and contractual requirements.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess or be able to obtain required CTQP certifications and have strong skills in Inspection, with the ability to interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Candidates should possess skills in Quality Control and Construction Management to monitor project performance, document compliance, and support issue resolution in the field.
• Candidates should possess practical experience with Asphalt, Concrete, Earthwork, and related roadway construction materials, including placement and testing processes.
• Relevant experience in transportation or infrastructure construction, preferably working with public agency projects (city, county, or state DOT).
• Knowledge of safety regulations and construction best practices, with the ability to identify and report unsafe conditions.
• Strong observational, analytical, and documentation skills, including clear written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, stand for extended periods, and travel to job sites as needed.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or coursework in construction, civil engineering, or related field is beneficial.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheets) and electronic reporting tools.
