Job description

BETA Group is seeking a Construction Inspector to join the team! This individual will serve as the on-site construction representative to observe and ensure compliance with design plans, specifications, and project/contract terms. Additionally, the Construction Inspector will represent BETA Group, Inc. at multiple job sites throughout the New England area.

Responsibilities:

  1. Liaison between client, project manager, operations, and contractors to achieve successful project completion
  2. Review construction specifications and prepare observation reports
  3. Provide oversight and ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications; identify areas requiring corrective actions
  4. Administer the scope, schedule, and budget for construction projects
  5. Track, evaluate, and communicate project progress
  6. Conduct monitoring and daily onsite inspections
  7. Interpret project plans and specifications; coordinate final inspections
  8. Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors
  9. Develop project plans for the duration of the project
  10. Perform other duties as assigned

The position is based in BETA’s Hartford, CT office, with flexibility to work from other locations. BETA offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to work remotely up to 2 days per week.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2-5+ years of practical construction experience, knowledge, methods, and materials
  • Ability to understand and interpret design and construction documents
  • Independent, highly motivated self-starter
  • Strong technical aptitude and eagerness to learn
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to prepare and maintain field reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to collect field data and perform asset inspections
  • Physical ability to lift/move objects up to 40 pounds and perform fieldwork in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel within New England

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering
  • NICET, NETTCP, ACI Certifications
  • Familiarity with Connecticut Department of Transportation Form 819
