Job description

RIG Consulting Inc.iscurrently seeking a qualified Construction Inspector in the District 8 Harrisburg area.The base rate may range from $30.00 to $40.00 an hour, depending on qualifications, education, and certifications. RIG/The Lexis Group offers several additional benefits, such as a Night Safety Incentive and a Long Distance Drive Incentive that can add additional money to your paycheck!

Primary Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manageon-site supervision and inspection of construction activities, quality control provisions of contracts, and periodic inspections and tests.
  • Writing daily reports summarizing construction activity and other important information for the day, and monitoring and performing regular check on all contractor and inspector work progress
  • Analyzing and interpreting all specifications and blueprints concerning contracts, and performing daily inspections of construction sites and work completed
  • Monitoring all construction activities and its progress and ensuring adherence to all procedures and specifications, as well as measuring dimensions and elevations against blueprints and schematics
  • Maintaining knowledge of all project requirements and providing all grading permits, as well as analyzing and reviewing cost estimates for proposed projects, making recommendations regarding schedule and materials lists when required
  • Ensuring compliance in all construction activities, maintaining a variety of all records on employee performance, and preparing an estimate of all pay
  • Ensuring best level of customer services at all times, and maintaining effective relationships with all employees and officials
  • Conducting field inspections to study standards of building structures and materials, and following all safety protocols while on construction sites by wearing proper protective clothing.
  • Reviewand evaluatefield staff construction progress, quality assurance findings, recommended field and office engineering changes for consistency with contractual provisions, specifications and cost estimates.
  • Notecontroversies with contractors and other agencies.
  • Recordincidents of unsatisfactory performance and violations of specifications and regulations.
  • Measureand recordprogress quantities on a daily basis for comparison and use in reviewing contractor monthly invoices.
  • Testing construction materials, such as concrete, rock, and asphalt, for quality at different construction sites

Essential Functions:

  • Valid driver’s license and ACI certification, preferred and thorough knowledge of engineering plans, specifications, and drawings
  • Strong verbal communication skills and excellent written communication skills, as well as the ability to create daily site reports
  • Mathematical skills for verifying measurements and studying blueprints; and computer skills for writing regular reports using software programs
  • Ability to perceive errors in construction projects, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, property owners, and associates
  • Ability to effect satisfactory compliance with specifications and standards, and maintain accurate records.
  • Travel across various types of terrain
  • Input/retrieve information utilizing electronic devices and a variety of software systems
  • Maneuver safely around moving traffic and equipment
  • React immediately to hazard warning devices, such as signs, sirens, and alarms
  • Use required protective equipment and be responsible for it's care, storage, and maintenance
  • Sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, and climb; lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Withstand periods of heavy exertion
  • Travel to inspection sites
  • Tolerate exposure to noise, outdoors, adverse weather conditions, various plants and insects, and chemicals within Safety Date Sheet (SDS) limits

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of fiveyears of related construction inspection experience.
  • GED or high school diploma required.
  • Experience with RAKEN software a plus.
