Job summary

Volkert is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to support projects across the Colorado Front Range, including Denver, Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs. Applicants should have at least five years of heavy highway construction experience and be prepared to work on-site at multiple locations around Colorado.

The role requires plan reading skills, proficiency with Office software, and the ability to obtain CDL/CDOT certifications.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of heavy highway construction experience.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to obtain Traffic Control Supervisor and CDOT-related certifications.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction activities on heavy highway projects.
• Report to project sites daily and be on-site throughout assigned projects in Colorado Front Range.
• Complete required forms and paperwork documenting construction activities each day.
• Report directly to the Project Engineer for each project as well as to the Volkert Project Manager.

We are currently searching for an experienced Construction Inspector to support our Colorado Front Range located in Denver, Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs, CO.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, five years of heavy highway construction experience.

What you’ll be doing:

• Inspect construction activities on heavy highway construction projects
• Report to project sites daily and be on-site throughout assigned projects, which may be located anywhere along the Colorado front range
• Complete required forms and paperwork documenting construction activities each day
• Report directly to the Project Engineer for each project as well as to the Volkert Project Manager

What you need to have:

• Minimum of 5 years of heavy highway construction experience
• Proficiency in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications, and familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and internet/email usage
• Ability to obtain (or hold) certifications including Traffic Control Supervisor, CDOT Highway Plan Reading, CDOT Construction Surveying, CDOT Basic Highway Math, ACI Concrete Transportation Construction Inspection, and Transportation Erosion Control Supervisor Training
• Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time, flexible work hours, and willingness to temporarily relocate to project locations if necessary
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

Bonus points if you have:

• Prior experience on Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) construction projects
