Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to support Colorado Front Range projects in Denver, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs. You will inspect heavy highway construction, report daily on-site, and complete daily documentation.

Five years of heavy highway experience is required; ability to relocate to project sites, and certifications or the ability to obtain them are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of heavy highway construction experience.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specs; proficient with Word/Excel and internet/email.
• Certifications listed (CDOT/Traffic Control/ACI) or able to obtain them.
• Must be able to stand long hours, relocate to project sites as needed.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen; driver license and clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction activities on heavy highway projects.
• Report to project sites daily and be on-site throughout assigned projects across Colorado Front Range.
• Complete required forms and paperwork documenting construction activities daily.
• Report to Project Engineer and Volkert Project Manager on each project.

We are currently searching for an experienced Construction Inspector to support our Colorado Front Range located in Denver, Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs, CO.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, five years of heavy highway construction experience.

What you'll be doing:

• Inspect construction activities on heavy highway construction projects
• Report to project sites daily and be on-site throughout assigned projects, which may be located anywhere along the Colorado front range
• Complete required forms and paperwork documenting construction activities each day
• Report directly to the Project Engineer for each project as well as to the Volkert Project Manager

What you need to have:

• Minimum of 5 years of heavy highway construction experience
• Proficiency in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications, and familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and internet/email usage
• Ability to obtain (or hold) certifications including Traffic Control Supervisor, CDOT Highway Plan Reading, CDOT Construction Surveying, CDOT Basic Highway Math, ACI Concrete Transportation Construction Inspection, and Transportation Erosion Control Supervisor Training
• Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time, flexible work hours, and willingness to temporarily relocate to project locations if necessary
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

Bonus points if you have:

• Prior experience on Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) construction projects
