Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design currently seeks Construction Inspectors for our Rochester, NY team. You will oversee construction inspection, document daily reports, and ensure compliance with project plans and NYSDOT specs while supporting safe, timely execution.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, NYSDOT/municipal project exposure, and NICET II or CEES familiarity; a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Prior construction engineering/inspection experience is a plus.
• NICET II certification or CEES familiarity preferred.
• Familiar with NYSDOT's MURK preferred.
• Valid US driver's license required.
• Experience with NYSDOT/municipal projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect bridges or highway construction, measure quantities, and document daily work reports.
• Coordinate construction inspection documentation and site activities.
• Ensure work complies with NYSDOT specifications.
• Apply plans and company policies to daily tasks and decisions.
• Maintain project documentation and communicate with project stakeholders.
• Resolve on-site issues and coordinate site activities.

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is currently looking for Construction Inspectors to join our growing Construction Engineering & Inspection team in Rochester, NY! Our professional engineers and technicians successfully oversee project construction from pre-construction through finalization with an outstanding track record for cost and schedule containment. Our ACI, SAT, and NICET certified construction professionals have extensive on-the-job experience in supervision, observation, safety oversight and inspection with ongoing training that ensures required daily schedules are adhered to and all materials are procured and constructed according to plans and specifications. We work with our clients to achieve the optimum value, schedule, and project quality for heavy highway, single and multi-span bridges, intersection and traffic signal improvements, marine improvements, water/wastewater transmission, building and vertical project management, park and recreation construction, and condition assessment and asset inventory. Our construction professionals understand the impact construction projects have on the surrounding communities and foster public relations and communications with the local business owners, residents, and elected officials in the surrounding communities.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the construction inspection of bridge and/or highway construction projects including measuring and calculating quantities and documenting work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches.
• Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection.
• Insures work is completed in accordance with NYSDOT specifications.
• Apply project plans, along with company policies, guidelines, standards, specifications to the work and make decisions.
• Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project.
• Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Prior construction engineering/inspection experience is a plus.
• NICET II certification, associate degree in engineering technology and/or bachelor's degree in civil engineering preferred.
• Valid US driver's license required.
• Prior experience with federally-aided transportation projects as a construction inspector preferred.
• Experience working with/for clients like NYSDOT and/or municipal clients; technical knowledge of general and highway construction preferred.
• High attention to detail and team player.
• Strong mathematics skills.
• Appia and/or CEES experience preferred.
• Familiarity with NYSDOT's Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK) preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $29.00 to $38.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)
