We are seeking Construction Inspectors of all levels to expand our growing team. We have immediate openings in the Blacksburg area for qualified transportation Construction Inspectors and Senior Inspectors, working on VDOT, locality, and Design-Build projects. The Inspector will manage and perform daily construction management and inspection services for various transportation projects. Candidates should have significant roadway/bridge construction experience, VDOT certifications, and proficiency in reading plans, specifications, and shop drawings, as well as overseeing documentation and enforcing contracts.

Responsibilities

1. Construction management
2. Perform field inspections to ensure contractor compliance with contract documents
3. Prepare daily and weekly reports on work progress
4. Conduct materials testing and maintain logs
5. Review pay estimates for accuracy
6. Prepare sketches and data for project modifications
7. Maintain diaries and reports on work and deficiencies
8. Perform mathematical calculations as needed
9. Review contractor schedules and updates
10. Communicate effectively with the project team and stakeholders

Requirements

• Experience levels vary: Trainee (0-2 years), Inspector (3+ years), Senior Inspector (6+ years)
• Inspection skills in roadway, bridge, and utility construction
• Experience coordinating multiple crews and tracking project quantities
• Relevant certifications, including VDOT materials certifications and others
• Valid driver’s license and clean record
• High school diploma or equivalent; degree preferred
• Strong communication, plan reading, and documentation skills
• Basic computer skills; willingness to work nights/overtime
