About This Position

The Construction Inspections Supervisor in the Design and Construction Management Division of the Street Transportation Department leads a team of field staff engaged in technical inspections, overseeing the construction of the City's Capital Improvement Projects, while performing a broad range of supervisory responsibilities. Projects can include major streets repair, traffic signal modernization, pavement preservation, sidewalk and ADA facilities improvements, emergency repairs, High Intensity Activated Crosswalks (HAWKS), Active Transportation project, Storm Drain solutions, Water and Waste infrastructure, and bridge construction.

This position administers and oversees the planning, coordinating, testing, and inspection of construction activities and coordinates temporary traffic control, maintenance and construction related activities in the city right-of-way. This individual directs the work for the inspection team and takes disciplinary action as required, as well as observing or monitor construction methods and materials to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards. This position also communicates effectively and professionally with customers, City employees, boards and commissions, and the public in face-to-face one-on-one settings, in group settings, through electronic communications, or using a telephone. Work is performed under the supervision of a professional engineer who reviews work and the results obtained.

SALARY

Pay Range: $86,153.60 to $115,460.80 annually. Hiring Range: $86,153.60 to $109,969.60 annually. Pay Range Explanation: Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity. Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase. Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease. Minimum Qualifications

• Six years of experience in field inspection engineering work.
  • Including two years of technical and skilled public works construction inspection experience (or one year at the level of Chief Construction Inspector).
• Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
• All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
• Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Preferred Qualifications
