Job summary

The City of Phoenix Aviation Department seeks a Building Maintenance Foreman to supervise skilled workers responsible for maintenance, repair, and remodeling of public buildings within the Phoenix Airport System. About This Position

The Aviation Department manages and operates the Phoenix Airport System which consists of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Deer Valley Airport, and Goodyear Airport. The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has consistently been ranked as one of the top ten busiest airports in the nation. Serving more than 125,000 passengers daily, with over 1,200 flights per day, the airport has a total economic impact of more than $38 billion per year.

The Aviation Department is seeking motivated Building Maintenance Foreman to fill one position. This position supervises skilled workers involved in the maintenance, repair, and remodeling of public buildings. It requires skills in one or more of the building trades and reasonable proficiency in several other trades such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, roofing, and drywall repair.

Duties Include And Are Not Limited To

• Hazmat compliance.
• Ensuring safe work practices.
• Contract development and oversight.
• Communicating daily with electronic communications.
• Coordinating remodeling schedules with other work sections.
• Development and administration of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Creating electronic reports using MS Office, MS Outlook, and SAP Plant Maintenance.
• There is considerable latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative.
• Conducting preliminary surveys of proposed projects including blueprint evaluation, costing, and material procurement.

The Building Maintenance Foreman position we are looking to fill will work a 3rd shift or 2nd shift.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in the use of computers and multiple business software applications including MS Outlook, MS Office, SAP Plant Maintenance, or other maintenance management program applications.

SALARY

Pay Range: $34.08 to $45.67 per hour.

Hiring Range: $34.08 to $41.42 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications

• One year of supervisory experience in building construction or maintenance and repair.
• Supplemented by three years of skilled level experience in one or more of the building trades.
• Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
• Working conditions:
• Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings will be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with contract management and procurement.
• Experience creating job and material specifications, estimating projects, and project management/scheduling for some departments.
• Experience with construction management (modernizing and improving existing facilities)
• Certified manager of maintenance certification or comparable education equivalent.
• Possess journeyman level experience with residential and commercial plumbing (minimum 3 years).
• Higher education preferable and/or any college credits (Associate/Bachelors degree) or certification(s).
