MTH Industries, a Chicago-area specialty contractor, seeks an experienced Payroll & HR Generalist to manage payroll and support HR functions. The role focuses on construction and union payroll, benefits administration, and collaborating with the CFO on payroll matters.

The ideal candidate has strong HR and payroll skills, experience with benefits administration, and a detail-oriented approach to handling confidential information across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll and HR experience, preferably in a combined role.
• Strong knowledge of full-cycle payroll, payroll taxes, deductions, and compliance.
• Working knowledge of employee benefits, onboarding, and general HR administration.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full payroll process for hourly, salaried, union, and non-union employees across multiple construction sites.
• Review and validate timesheets, hours worked, job codes, pay rates, overtime, classifications, and other payroll data.
• Administer union payroll according to collective bargaining agreements, including wages and fringe benefits.
• Process certified payroll and project-specific payroll reporting, including prevailing wage requirements.
• Process and reconcile union benefit payments such as pension and health benefits.
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records and process hires, terminations, and changes.
• Respond to employee and manager questions regarding payroll, timekeeping, taxes, benefits, and compensation.
