Job summary

Plants and Goodwin, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate heavy machinery including front-end loaders, dozers, graders, rollers, and excavators.

The role requires performing daily safety and maintenance checks and coordinating with crew members to meet grade specifications on construction projects. The position involves interacting with residents and the public, reporting issues, and maintaining equipment and job site safety.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience using construction tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of operating front-end loaders, dozers, graders, excavators, and other heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, and manuals.
  • Effective communication and ability to work with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

  • Operates heavy equipment safely and efficiently according to regulations.
  • Performs daily safety and maintenance checks.
  • Interacts with laborers and crew to align, move, and adjust equipment for grade specifications.
  • Interacts with residents and the public in a courteous manner; reports complaints.
  • Cleans and stores heavy equipment; maintains inventory.
  • Participates in routine maintenance and safety practices.

Job description

Job Description

This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include, but is not limited to, front-end loaders, dozers, graders, rollers and/or excavators.

  • $24 - $30 per hour starting wage.

  • Ability to work flexible schedule and out-of-town overnight stays.
  • $55 per diem when out of town.
  • Company sponsored CDL Program available for eligible employees.
Principal Responsibilities / Accountabilities
  • Operates all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs daily safety and maintenance checks.
  • Interacts with construction general laborers and/or crew members who are facilitating alignment, movement, and adjustment of the equipment to complete conformation of grade specifications for the construction project.
  • Interacts with residents and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Makes note of and reports any complaints from members of the public.
  • Cleans heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required.
  • Ensures heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
  • Participates in routine maintenance.
  • Practices workplace safety.
  • Maintains inventory.
  • Ensures access to houses and locations.
  • Uses equipment to level roads and ensure proper drainage.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience using construction tools and equipment including air hammer, concrete saw, patent scaffolding, trench digging equipment, etc.
  • Knowledge of operation of front-end loaders, dozers, graders, excavators, and other pieces of heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.
  • Knowledge of signals used to signal operators of construction machinery.
  • Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Oil and Gas industry.
  • Ability to keep company proprietary information confidential.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work successfully with a wide variety of people at different levels within the organization and public.
  • Ability to work various schedules including nights/weekends and local/regional travel.
