We are North America’s largest Mass Timber Manufacturer, with facilities in Penticton, British Columbia, Spokane Valley, Washington, and Conway, Arkansas with a combined annual production capacity of over 255,000 cubic metres of mass timber. MMT is part of Mercer International, a leading forest products company who is one of the world’s largest market pulp producers and operates the world’s largest sawmill. We strive to provide an inclusive culture by fostering an environment of mutual respect, fairness, and by providing opportunities to contribute and grow.

Position Description

Reporting directly to the Superintendent, we’re looking for a Construction Foreman who knows their way around a site and actually enjoys the challenge of bringing a complex mass timber project to life. You’ll be the person making things happen on the ground, keeping the crew on track, the timber moving, and the quality sharp.

This isn’t a role where you just check boxes. We’re growing fast, and we need someone who is a bit of a hybrid – a leader who can mentor the next generation, a problem-solver who doesn’t sweat a tight deadline, and a teammate who isn’t afraid to ask questions to get it right. If you’re self-motivated, obsessed with the details, and ready to help us shape how this division evolves, we should talk.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of mass timber installers, from start to finish, to ensure successful project completion.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing all safety protocols, conducting regular safety meetings, and promoting a culture of safety among the crew.
  • Ensure that installation work meets or exceeds industry standards and follows project specifications and plans.
  • Manage and schedule work crews, assign tasks, and provide guidance and training to maintain a motivated and efficient team.
  • Coordinate the procurement and proper use of materials and equipment needed for installation, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Act as a liaison between the project manager, client, and the installation team, providing regular project updates and addressing any concerns or issues.
  • Identify and resolve on-site issues and challenges as they arise, making quick, informed decisions to keep projects on track.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, timecards, and any change orders.
  • Monitor project costs and labor hours, ensuring that projects stay within budget.
  • Inspect completed work to verify that it meets quality standards, making any necessary adjustments.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, addressing their needs and concerns promptly and professionally.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction.
  • A strong background in crane operation and rigging.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or foreman role within the construction or timber industry.
  • Knowledge of mass timber installation techniques, safety protocols, and industry standards.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Proficient in ensuring compliance with safety protocols and managing on-site safety.
  • OSHA certification and other relevant safety training required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Salary and Benefits
  • The salary for this position is $80,000- $90,000. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
  • Our group benefits package, which has no waiting period, includes extended health and dental benefits.
