Job summary

Whitaker Construction Company is seeking an Accountant to support the project accounting team by reviewing construction budgets, approving invoices, and ensuring timely billings to clients and payments collection. The role helps reduce close time, boost department efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and prepare analysis of key financial areas for project leadership.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management or related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Experience with Viewpoint (Vista) and Bid2Win is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Champion the company values in daily actions.
• Review and code invoices for approval and assist project managers.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Process job cost adjustments and set up POs and subcontract agreements.
• Support change orders, SCR and lien waiver forms, and compliance.
• Provide financial reporting and assist with budgets and forecasts.
• Maintain audit-ready project files and contribute to month-end close.
