Job summary

Valar Atomics in Utah is seeking an experienced Development and Construction Finance Director to lead financial planning, reporting, and cost control for our growing construction programs. You will partner with project managers, field teams, and engineering to align budgets, cash flow, and performance as we build.

You will drive scalable financial processes, strong analytics, and executive-ready reporting to support large-scale energy infrastructure projects and fast-paced execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in construction or project finance roles.
• Strong cost tracking, forecasting, cash-flow management, and variance analysis.
• Experience with contractor billings, change orders, progress payments.
• Advanced financial modeling and Excel proficiency.
• Ability to produce executive-ready financial materials under tight deadlines.
• Willingness to spend time on-site and travel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary finance partner to construction and project teams, aligning financial plans with operational realities.
• Own construction cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting across active projects, including budget-versus-actual and variance analysis.
• Manage project cash-flow planning and ensure capital is available to meet construction milestones and payment obligations.
• Review and reconcile contractor and vendor invoices, change orders, and progress billings against budgets and work completed.
• Partner with project controls to connect cost, schedule, and earned value into clear financial reporting.
• Produce monthly construction cost reports with variance commentary, key drivers, risks, and recommended actions for leadership.
• Help maintain the project cost-coding structure, including WBS and cost breakdown structure inputs.
• Support capital budgeting and funding plans for construction phases with finance leadership.
• Monitor commitments, contingencies, and exposure across projects, flagging risks before overruns.
• Partner with procurement and legal to align contract terms, payment schedules, and financial controls.
• Help build and improve financial processes and tools that scale across sites.
