Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a Construction Finance Analyst in Chandler, AZ, to support capital construction with detailed cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and cost control. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Finance or related field and 5–12 years of construction-focused experience.

Local candidates and a hybrid onsite schedule are preferred, with ASAP start possible. Responsibilities include forecasting, budgeting, WBS cost control, change orders, and monthly reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Business Analytics, or related field
• Approximately 5-12 years of relevant experience
• Experience with construction projects, cost management, budgeting, cash flow and forecasting
• Advanced Excel skills preferred
• Proficiency with SAP, Power BI and cost management applications

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly cash flow forecasts for the capital construction team
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and total project funding and commitment forecasts
• Manage capital project budgets and spending at WBS level
• Create WBS codes and ensure proper scope alignment
• Validate and approve purchase requisitions and change orders
• Review project invoices and coding for AP submission
• Monitor contractor buyout of subcontract bid packages
• Lead cost meetings with contractors and engineering teams
• Manage, validate, and track change orders
• Perform spend-to-forecast variance analysis
• Conduct risk and opportunity analysis
• Prepare ad hoc financial and project reporting
• Ensure compliance with policies

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Business Analytics, or a related field, along with approximately 5-12 years of relevant experience supporting construction projects, cost management, project planning, budgeting, cash flow, and forecasting. Local candidates near Chandler, AZ are required for this hybrid role.

Job Description

• Prepare and issue monthly and quarterly cash flow forecasts for the capital construction team.
• Prepare and issue monthly, quarterly, and total project funding and commitment forecasts.
• Manage and control capital project budgets and spending at the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) level.
• Create WBS codes and ensure proper scope alignment.
• Validate and approve purchase requisitions and change orders.
• Review project invoices and ensure proper coding and submission to the client's Accounts Payable department.
• Monitor and report on contractor buyout of subcontract bid packages, where applicable.
• Schedule and lead regular cost meetings with contractors and engineering teams to review budgets, spending, and change order status.
• Manage, validate, and track change orders.
• Perform monthly spend-to-forecast variance analysis and drive forecasts to spend within required acceptance ranges.
• Conduct risk and opportunity analysis.
• Prepare ad hoc financial and project reporting and analysis.
• Ensure compliance with reporting standards and corporate finance and accounting policies.
• Support the capital construction team with financial analysis, cost controls, forecasting, and project reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• Approximately 5-12 years of relevant experience.
• Strong cost management, finance, and/or project planning experience.
• Previous experience working on or supporting construction projects.
• Experience developing and managing budgets, cash flows, forecasts, and project funding plans.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work effectively with numbers and large amounts of data.
• Experience with data collection, management, reporting, and analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and presentation skills.
• Advanced Excel skills preferred.
• Working knowledge of industry-standard software including SAP, Power BI, and cost management applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Adobe Acrobat, and related technology.
• Semiconductor, commercial, industrial, or refinery project experience preferred.
• OSHA 10-hour certification preferred.
• Ability to work 3 days per week onsite in Chandler, AZ.
• Local candidates near the Chandler, AZ area required.
• Must be available to start ASAP.
