Job description

300 Newhall Street
San Francisco, CA94124

Plant Construction Company, L.P. is an award‑winning general contractor headquartered in San Francisco with an annual volume of approximately $400M. For over 75 years, Plant has been a leader in the construction industry providing preconstruction, construction management, and general contracting services for a wide range of project types including seismic renovation, infrastructure, life sciences, education, office, mixed‑use developments, historic structures, hospitality and residential. We are known to consistently deliver quality construction, detailed and accurate estimates, and “high touch” client services for the most complex projects. As a firm of approximately 350 people, Plant is recognized for consistently meeting the standard set by the slogan “The Finest Construction Services, Efficiently Performed, Delivered on Schedule.”

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and analytically driven Financial Analyst to support financial operations across all departments and project teams company‑wide. This role goes beyond project‑level reporting — the ideal candidate will serve as a cross‑functional resource, partnering with leadership, operations, and project teams to deliver both project‑specific financial oversight and high‑level portfolio insights. Strong financial acumen paired with technical and data skills is essential.

Position Title: Financial Analyst
Reports To: Controller
Status: Exempt
Experience: 0-2 Years
Location: San Francisco, CA
Salary Range: $85,000 to $90,000

Purpose of the position

The Financial Analyst has the essential role and responsibility of providing analytical support to project teams and management.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prepare KPI analysis for individual projects as well as high‑level, company‑wide portfolio reporting
  • Compare cost estimates and budgets to actual expenses; monitor costs for significant variances, investigate causes, and identify corrective measures
  • Prepare and maintain financial forecasting across assigned projects and at the portfolio level
  • Conduct audits on the job cost ledger to ensure expenses are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policy
  • Serve as a financial point of contact for project teams — attending meetings independently, communicating findings clearly, and providing confident, direct guidance on financial matters
  • Support all departments across the company with financial analysis, data requests, reporting, and ad‑hoc analytical tasks
  • Assist in overseeing financial performance and reporting on assigned projects
  • Perform other analytical and financial duties as needed
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or other equivalent business program, or 2+ years of construction finance related experience
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools preferred
  • Working knowledge of SQL; familiarity with cloud database environments (e.g., AWS RDS) is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Working knowledge of job‑based accounting software; knowledge of Sage Timberline & Procore preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills — must be comfortable presenting findings and recommendations directly to project teams and department leads
  • Confident, personable, and collaborative; able to navigate conversations with multiple stakeholders and clearly advocate for data‑driven decisions
  • Highly organized with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Proven attention to detail and strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Tech‑savvy and comfortable learning new tools, platforms, and data systems
  • Ability to work within established policies, procedures, and company guidelines while maintaining confidentiality and fiscal integrity
  • Reliability, dependability, and flexibility are a must
  • Ability to work at a jobsite if needed
