Job summary

Ghafari Associates is seeking a Construction Field Representative/Field Engineer to inspect, monitor, and document on-site activities for facility projects through construction and commissioning. The role is based on site in Lake Orion, MI, with occasional weekend work as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant Bachelor’s degree, professional registration, and about 5 years of construction experience, including contract administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering preferred or related work experience.
• Professional registration preferred.
• 5+ years of construction and contract administration experience.
• LEED, ADA and safety training preferred.
• Experience with facility construction projects and on-site coordination.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between contractor, architect and engineers.
• Review, comment, and approve construction documents.
• Review, comment, and approve shop submittals.
• Review, comment, and approve RFIs.
• Provide field checks and investigations as requested by the office team.
• Gather site/facility photos during and after project completion.
• Attend construction meetings on behalf of AE Team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Construction Field Representative/Field Engineer inspects, monitors and documents the work in progress on site for facility projects during construction, commissioning, final acceptance, and post-construction phases to ensure the work is executed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and the project schedule.

This position is based on site in Lake Orion, Michigan

Occasional weekend work may be required to support business and project needs.

Essential Job Functions

• Serve as a liaison between the contractor, architect and engineers
• Review, comment, and approve construction documents
• Review, comment, and approve shop submittals
• Review, comment, and approve Request For Information (RFI’s) forms
• Provide field checks and/or investigations as per request of office team
• Gather site/facility photos during and upon completion of the project.
• Attend construction meetings on behalf of AE Team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Employment Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Engineering field preferred or related work experience
• Professional Registration preferred

Experience

• Candidates with a background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering are preferred.
• 5 years of experience with construction and the administration of construction contracts.
• LEED training preferred
• ADA training preferred
• Safety training preferred

Skills/Competencies

• Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Schedule, AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred
• Excellent communication and written skills
