Job summary

Great States Construction, a leading commercial general contractor in Fargo, ND, is seeking a detail-driven Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for multi-family and commercial projects from conceptual budgeting through final bid.

You will perform quantity takeoffs, solicit subcontractor quotes, prepare bid packages, and contribute to value engineering, while collaborating with project managers and owners to resolve scope issues.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of construction estimating experience, multi-family estimating preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, means and methods, and cost drivers.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs for multi-family and commercial projects.
• Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier quotes for complete coverage.
• Assemble bid proposals and cost estimates from conceptual budgeting to hard bid.
• Perform material, labor, and equipment cost analysis; identify value-engineering opportunities.
• Prepare subcontractor bid packages and scope sheets.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks, document conditions and scope.
• Maintain unit-cost and historical cost data to improve estimates.
• Support buyout and handoff to project management.
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, architects, and owners to clarify scope.
• Track bid results and inform future pricing strategy.
