Job summary

Great States Construction is seeking a detail-driven Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for multi-family and commercial projects from our Edina office. The role involves takeoffs, subcontractor pricing, and assembling complete bid proposals with strong opportunities for cost improvement.

Responsibilities include coordinating with project managers, architects, and owners to clarify scope, while maintaining historical cost data to improve accuracy over time.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of construction estimating experience; multi-family estimating preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and scopes of work.
• Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, means and methods, and cost drivers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quantity takeoffs for multi-family and commercial projects from drawings and specs.
• Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier quotes for complete bid coverage.
• Assemble bid proposals and cost estimates from conceptual budgeting through hard bid.
• Analyze material, labor, and equipment costs and identify value-saving opportunities.
• Prepare and issue subcontractor bid packages, scope sheets, and clarifications.
