Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Construction Estimator with Mechanical and Process Piping experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a good communicator and a team player with a strong foundation in cost and estimating.

Responsibilities include developing cost plans from concept to design, supporting client land acquisitions, presenting updated plans at milestones, reviewing design changes, and providing commercial input for value engineering. On-site work may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, or related field.
  • 3–5 years in a construction cost management role (estimating, cost control, etc.).
  • Experience with CostX and measurement software is preferred or essential.

Responsibilities

  • Developing cost plans and estimates from concept through detailed design.
  • Supporting client land acquisitions and presenting updated cost plans at design milestones.
  • Reviewing design changes and preparing estimates within appropriate accuracy levels.
  • Providing commercial input to design optioneering and value engineering.
  • Preparing cash commit forecasts for the construction life cycle.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders on estimates and cost plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing cost plans and estimates fromconceptthrough detailed design.
  • Supporting Client land acquisitions.
  • Delivering and presenting updated cost plans atappropriate designmilestones.
  • Reviewing proposed design changes/new technologiesand preparing estimates withinappropriate accuracylevels.
  • Understanding design stages and estimate levels.
  • Providing commercial input to design optioneering and input into value engineering exercises.
  • Preparing cash commit forecasts for the construction life cycle.
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders in the preparation of estimates/ cost plans.
  • Analyzing labor markets and cost drivers such as unions & tax.
  • Supporting our clients with monthly presentations.
  • Delivering Life Cycle Costing models.
  • Benchmarking integration to ensureaccuratedata capture.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Project/Program specific responsibilities:

Individuals will be working as part of a team providing estimating support activities across a variety of life science sector projects andprogrammes.

Responsibilities will consist of:

  • Preparation of benchmarking reports and development ofappropriate data.
  • Measurement and estimation from a firstprinciplebasis for projects at all design stages.
  • Proficient in measuring using CSIMasterformat.
  • Undertaking reviews of 3rd party estimates toidentifyalignment with the market and preparing reports to detail findings.
  • Preparation of estimates for project change orders and review of EPCM submissions.

Market sector experience:

  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing and R&D facilities
  • CGMP facilities

Project/program size in dollar value:

  • Various, with projects ranging in size from $50m to $1bn+

Software specific requirements:

  • CostXexperience preferred but not essential. Experience in measurement softwareessential.

Certification requirements:

  • AACE membership or equivalent preferred but not essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying,engineeringor field related to construction.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a construction cost management role such as Estimating, Cost Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Cost Controls etc.
  • Thrives in a client facing role.
  • Experience supporting program level cost management for medium or large-scale construction projects.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as value management and value engineering.
  • Strong communicationskills.

The salary range for this full-time role is $110K - $150K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
