Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an Estimator I & II to join our Solar Team in MN HQ (onsite). You will gather, calculate, and compile data to produce project estimates; for smaller projects you may prepare the full estimate. Travel minimal up to two site visits per year, with compensation determined by experience and location.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum one-year construction operations experience.
• Strong numerical and estimation skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Build project estimates.
• Perform quantity take-offs and material summaries.
• Solicit trade partner bids and prepare estimate comparisons.
• Prepare RFP documents and schedules; use scheduling data for estimates.
• Determine pricing options for projects.
• Input data into estimating software and support lead estimator.
• Archive cost data and organize historical records.
• Participate in plan/estimate reviews and site investigations.
• Gather information from government/private entities affecting projects (permits, hearings).
• Manage Addendum log and documents from clients.

Job description

Mortenson is currently seeking an Estimator I & II to join our Solar Team, who will be responsible for gathering, calculating, and compiling data in order to produce project estimates; for smaller projects, this position will also prepare the full estimate.

Location: MN- HQ (onsite)

Travel: Minimal up to two project site visits per year

This position offers opportunities at both levels I and II, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build Project Estimates
• Complete quantity take-offs and summations of materials
• Solicit trade partners, obtain bid estimates, and time projections for preparing vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets
• Help in preparing, organizing, and coordinating Request for Proposal documents and schedules, utilizing schedule information to estimate General Contractor's and other items where schedule is important
• Determine all pricing options and the appropriate price for the project
• Support lead estimator in data input into estimating software program(s)
• Perform archive filing and historical cost data gathering
• Participate in plan and estimate review meetings, other project review meetings, and site investigations, as needed
• Support lead estimator in gathering information from local government and private entities that may affect project (i.e. permits, hearings, etc.)
• Help manage Addendum log and documents from customers/clients

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current driver's license
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
• Applicable mathematical skills
• Familiarity with building/estimating techniques and software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth
• Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies

ESTIMATOR I

• MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar or equivalent experience
• Minimum one-year construction operations experience, including exposure to materials management and project operations

• The base pay range for this role is $78,800 - $98,500

ESTIMATOR II

• MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's or bachelor's degree in Estimating, Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience
• Minimum three year's construction operations experience, including exposure to materials management and project operations

• The base pay range for this role is $91,700 - $123,800

(Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
