Job summary

Wolf Creek Contracting is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate bids for concrete, GC, and general contracting projects. You will collaborate with leadership, PMs, and field teams to ensure realistic estimates aligned with field execution.

The role emphasizes preconstruction support, takeoffs, subcontractor coordination, and continuous improvement through post‑job reviews. Hybrid/remote opportunities available; travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge of concrete, GC, and general trades scopes.
• Experience with self-perform and subcontracted work.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, Excel, and Microsoft Office (Procore a plus).
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Bid & Preconstruction Support: identify and pursue bidding opportunities and prepare bids.
• Review plans, specs, addenda, and RFIs to ensure accurate estimates.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks, supporting Go/No-Go decisions with leadership.
• Estimating & Takeoffs: perform detailed quantity takeoffs and build estimates with pricing.
• Develop general conditions, labor, equipment, and logistics pricing.
• Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination: create bid packages, solicit pricing, and compare scopes.
• Turnover & Continuous Improvement: prepare turnover packages and support post-job reviews.

About The Role We’re looking for an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive bids for concrete, general trades, and general contracting projects. This role plays a key part in our growth helping us pursue the right work, build strong proposals, and support projects from preconstruction through turnover.

You’ll work closely with company leadership, project management, and field teams to ensure estimates are complete, realistic, and aligned with how work is built in the field.

What You’ll Do

• Bid & Preconstruction Support
• Identify and track bidding opportunities
• Review plans, specs, addenda, and RFIs
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks
• Support Go/No-Go decisions with leadership

Estimating & Takeoffs

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for self-perform scopes
• Build estimates using internal pricing and subcontractor quotes
• Develop general conditions, labor, equipment, and logistics pricing
• Identify constructability risks and value engineering options

Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination

• Create bid packages and scope documents
• Solicit, track, and review subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Prepare bid tabs and scope comparisons
• Support negotiations and buyout activities

Turnover & Continuous Improvement

• Prepare estimate turnover packages for project teams
• Support early buyout and scope clarification
• Participate in post-job reviews to improve future estimates

What We’re Looking For

• 3–7 years of estimating experience in commercial construction
• Strong knowledge of concrete, GC, and general trades scopes
• Experience with self-perform and subcontracted work
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, Excel, and Microsoft Office (Procore a plus)
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and contract documents
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and integrity

Work Environment & Travel

• Hybrid and remote work arrangements available, based on qualifications, location, and operational needs.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with project teams and leadership.
• Occasional travel to project sites, pre-bid meetings, client meetings, and the Wolf Creek Contracting office in Waterford, Ohio, as needed.
• Flexibility to accommodate deadlines and increased activity during bidding cycles.
