Job summary

Jobot in Virginia Beach seeks an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team on government contracting projects. You will estimate costs for utilities, materials, labor, and subcontractor bids, and manage bid pricing from vendors.

You will review drawings, prepare cost data, and coordinate with engineers, owners, and foremen to ensure accurate, timely estimates that support project planning and scheduling.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years in general construction contractor estimating.
• Experience with government contracting preferred.
• Proficient in reading construction drawings and documents.
• Strong communication and ability to coordinate with subs.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering/construction management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings and specs to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
• Prepare estimates for vendors or subcontractors.
• Review material and labor requirements for make-or-buy decisions.
• Prepare cost and expenditure statements for project duration.
• Coordinate bid pricing and gather data from vendors.
• Discuss estimates with clients, vendors, engineers, and foremen.
• Perform studies to establish standard cost data and cost-reduction.
• Prepare estimates used for planning, organizing and scheduling.
