Job summary

OPTIMAL is seeking an Estimator to convert inspection data into complete, pricing-ready proposals for the sales and operations teams. This desk-based role does not involve site visits or direct customer contact, and you will coordinate with inspectors and the sales team to finalize estimates.

The successful candidate will review data, price materials and labor, apply margins, and ensure timely delivery of accurate proposals using Builder and other estimating software integrations.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience as an estimator in construction, remodeling, restoration, or home services.
• Working knowledge of construction labor rates, hourly wages, and material costs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, email, shared drives, and messaging tools for receiving inspection data and submitting completed estimates.
• Exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy when preparing estimates.
• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to clarify missing information, flag discrepancies, and provide clear, accurate estimates to the sales and operations teams.
• Proven ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting deadlines and turnaround targets.
• Strong technical aptitude and the ability to work across multiple software platforms and learn new tools quickly.
• Proficiency in estimating software, preferably Builder, including the ability to use its Home Depot integration to retrieve real-time material pricing.

Responsibilities

• Review inspection details, notes, and photos submitted by field inspectors to define a clear scope of work.
• Confirm data completeness and flag missing information or unusual site conditions before finalizing estimates.
• Research current material pricing using estimating software with supplier integrations.
• Apply catalog pricing and verify material costs against supplier data.
• Determine labor costs, crew requirements, and hourly rates; price subcontractor costs when needed.
• Build complete, pricing-ready estimates with materials, labor, scope, and pricing; apply margins and markups.
• Return finalized estimates to sales and operations within agreed turnaround times.
• Communicate with inspectors and salespeople to clarify scope and handle revisions.
• Maintain organized records of every estimate and suggest workflow improvements.
