Job summary

rand* construction is seeking an Estimator for our Austin, TX office. The role centers on bidding and estimating, outlining subcontractor scopes, and delivering accurate estimates to keep projects profitable.

You’ll develop a qualified subcontractor database and partner with project, marketing, and preconstruction teams to meet responsibilities while being mentored to grow in your career. This is a full-time on-site position in Austin.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Engineering or Construction Management recommended but not required.
• Strong ability to analyze project drawings, specifications and RFPs.
• Knowledge of architecture, engineering and construction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual estimates and budgets for upcoming projects.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs; provide scope sheets for purchasing.
• Maintain bid log of documents and subcontractor scope of work; bid administration.
• Develop subcontractor relationships for the solicitation of bids.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and/or site visits.
• Participate in the interview and project award process.
• Minimize job costs by communicating scopes of work with subcontractors and vendors.
• Identify potential project risks.
• Engage with marketing and other teams during bidding process; review RFPs and bid documents.
• Analyze company costs to estimate project costs.
• Communicate with owners, architects, engineers, and project team.
