Job summary

Michigan Paving and Materials is seeking an experienced Estimator (Finance) to determine material, equipment, and labor needs for construction projects. You will develop budgets and competitive bids aligned with specifications and regulatory standards, while coordinating with owners, engineers, and suppliers.

The role requires strong analytical abilities, proficiency with estimating software, and a focus on safety and efficiency in a dynamic team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work with teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-bid site visits to evaluate conditions, gather measurements, and identify cost drivers.
• Prepare detailed estimates for asphalt paving, milling, and related work including materials and labor.
• Review plans and bid documents to identify scope and risks.
• Prepare and submit competitive bids compliant with regulations and standards.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, contractors, and engineers.
• Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes for pricing and quality.
• Collaborate with construction team to align estimates with execution plans.
• Utilize estimating software and digital tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure estimates meet safety, environmental, and DOT requirements.
• Monitor project progress and update estimates as needed.
• Generate reports for supervisor and maintain documentation.
• Follow safety policies and participate in audits and inspections.
