Job summary

Knife River - North Central in Bemidji, MN is seeking an Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive construction cost estimates by analyzing blueprints, specs, proposals and related docs. You will collaborate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to develop detailed labor, material, equipment and time estimates.

The role includes earthwork takeoffs, bid support, risk assessment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in estimation or equivalent experience is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with HCSS or similar estimating software preferred.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors and to function in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals and other docs to prepare cost estimates for construction projects.
• Review historical data, vendor quotes, subcontractor pricing, and internal data to determine cost factors and risks.
• Prepare detailed, itemized cost breakdowns and maintain supporting docs for bids.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, subcontractors and internal teams on scope and pricing.
• Perform earthwork takeoffs and 2D hard surface takeoffs.
• Assist bid opportunities, ensure completeness and bid deadlines.
• Participate in bid reviews and handoffs, communicating scope and risks clearly.
