Job summary

The Razorback LLC is seeking a Construction Estimator to gather and evaluate data to estimate costs, resources, and labor for services. This role requires analyzing proposals, blueprints, and specifications to produce accurate estimates, while coordinating with subcontractors and clients.

The position is in-person in Tarpon Springs, FL. Ideal candidates will have deep knowledge of construction pricing, takeoff software, and MS Office, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver timely

Qualifications

• BS/BA in a related discipline; 5-8 years in bid prep, estimating or construction preferred.
• Valid and unencumbered state Driver's License.
• High school diploma or GED acceptable for entry level.
• Strong knowledge of government contract requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bids by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications and related documents.
• Price bids accurately; manage schedules and track competitor pricing.
• Coordinate with project developers, subcontractors, clients, and office staff.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Estimator role is responsible for collecting and evaluating company data in order to estimate the costs, resources, and labor needed to perform services through research, gathering quotes, preparing reports, and monitoring data. The Estimator is a direct contributor to the company's profitability by ensuring the execution of complete and accurate estimates.

This position is in-person in Tarpon Springs, FL.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Effectively works with project developers, subcontractors, clients, and office personnel and simultaneously manages various tasks.
• The Estimator is responsible for the timely, efficient, and accurate pricing of the bid package.
• Performs plan and specification analysis to assure accuracy.
• Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Researches and computes costs by analyzing labor, material, transport, equipment, and time requirements.
• Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
• Presents prepared estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
• Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Actively works with the bid team to design successful bid strategies. Assists in bid preparation and ensures customers receive quotations promptly, tracks and monitors competitor pricing to determine the market value of bids.
• Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data.
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with contractors and vendors.
• Getting quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified time frame.
• Assessing the risk levels associated with a project.
• Preparing and submitting quotations and details of costs for work to be done.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications.
• Responsible for abiding by all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to the employee handbook, safe work practices, etc.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

• Knowledge of all construction trade requirements and pricing, both rehabilitation and new construction. Knowledge of government contract requirements.
• Ability to read and understand instructions to bidders, including but not limited to General Conditions, Special Conditions, and Specifications, Technical Specifications, and Project Schedule. Ability to read and draw blueprints.
• Ability to provide uniformity for bid estimates and ensure that the same base is used for progress and productivity reporting on the job.
• Extensive knowledge of building practices. Working knowledge of construction takeoff and estimating software programs. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak, listen and give full attention to verbal conversations effectively in English before groups of customers or employees of the organization, including answering questions, providing feedback and directions.
• Superior interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability (collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions on a timely basis) and negotiation.
• Ability to communicate and work with cross-functional teams and all levels in the organization.
• Results-oriented to ensure delivery of appropriate products and services in an accurate, complete, and timely fashion.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to use Microsoft programs including Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint with some proficiency.
• Ability to learn programs specific to the job such as client databases, intranet, video conferencing software, and time accounting software.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Mid-Senior Career Level: Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. 5-8 years of experience specific to bid preparation, sales, or construction; certification is required in some areas or a combination of MS/MA and two or more years Analyzing Information, Estimating, Planning, Reporting Research Results, Strategic Planning, Requirements Analysis experience preferred.
• Entry Level: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED with three to six months related experience and/or training in the related discipline. A one-year certificate from college or technical school is preferred. Still, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered, knowledge of general business principles and processes, quality standards for services, and coordination of resources.
• Valid and unencumbered state Driver's License.
