Job summary

HHICorporation in Ogden, Utah is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support pursuing and executing commercial and government construction projects. This role will help develop competitive, accurate proposals and estimates while collaborating with project management, procurement, design partners, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractor partners.

The Construction Estimator will review RFPs, plans, and specifications; develop detailed quantity takeoffs and project estimates;

Qualifications

5–10 years’ experience in Construction Estimating.
Design/Build Bid Experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Proficient in Bluebeam.
Excellent plan and specification reading skills.
Well-developed organizational skills.
Honest, dependable, and good interpersonal skills.
Must pass government security clearance standards.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
Good driving record and valid license.

Responsibilities

Work with department team members to complete a solicitation proposal including project execution plan, estimate, proposal narrative, proforma documents, and preliminary project design information.
Potential to manage multiple projects.
Read and understand the RFP.
Lead reviewing plans and specs with procurement team.
Manage quantity takeoffs and scope pricing by assigning scopes of work to estimators.
Call subcontractors and review bids for complete scope of work.
Review subcontractor bids for complete scope on scopes of work assigned to other estimators.
Make decisions on which subcontractors will be selected for use in the bid.
Make decisions with Design Manager on which design partners will be selected.
Identify risk areas of a project and develop a plan to mitigate the risk.
Identify project schedule, propose a POP, and include in the estimate any additional scope and costs.
Coordinate with GC partners on bidding strategy, manpower, and resources.
Work with project management to complete buyout of awarded projects.
Establish and maintain relationships with Owner, design professionals, building officials, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Review all vendor schedules of values and prepare general schedule of values to ensure on-time completion.
Identify workload needed for the company in the assigned area and plan to acquire the needed work.

Theidealcandidatewillhave5–10yearsofconstructionestimatingexperience,strongplanandspecificationreadingskills,andexperiencewithDesign/Buildbidding.Experienceestimatingcommercialand/orgovernmentconstructionprojectsishighlypreferred.
