Jobot is seeking a seasoned Construction Estimator in Lenexa, KS. The role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates for federal, state, or government projects across industrial, hospitality, and related sectors.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimation, with federal/state/government project exposure.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and market conditions.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and cost forecasting abilities.
• Proficiency with cost estimation and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans, specs, and quantities.
• Review proposals, drawings, and pre-bid inputs to determine cost drivers.
• Evaluate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs for bids.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for all cost components.
• Understand the scope of work to bid from reviewing proposal specifications, drawings, attending pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine key factors affecting costs.
• Evaluate and consider factors such as production time, materials and labor expenses, project scope, location, and potential risks when estimating costs, savings, and profit margins.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and architects during the process of estimating costs.
• Manage bid pricing from all vendors and select and evaluate subcontractor quotes for best value.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure comprehensive coverage of all scopes of work.
• Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
• Present estimates to senior management and clients, explaining key cost factors and offering cost-saving or value-engineering alternatives.
• Keep up-to-date records of all estimation documentation, including site assessments and contract terms; update as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimation, specifically within federal, state, or government construction.
• Proven experience in industrial construction, hospitality construction, and federal construction is highly desirable.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices.
• Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills, with a deep understanding of cost analysis and forecasting.
• Proficiency in relevant software, including cost estimation and project management software.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability to present cost estimates clearly and negotiate cost changes effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to make accurate, high-quality decisions under pressure.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines concurrently.
• Professional certification in construction estimation or project management is a plus.
