Job summary

Jobot is seeking a skilled Permanent Construction Estimator to join our growing team in Baton Rouge, LA. This role focuses on healthcare, higher education, schools, commercial, federal/state/government projects, and disaster construction, delivering accurate cost and schedule forecasts.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering and 5+ years of estimating experience, including OST software. Travel may be required.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify overruns and solutions.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Professionalism and ethics with willingness to travel.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for various construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and time requirements.
• Review and evaluate cost estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Utilize OST for estimating purposes.
• Prepare and submit competitive project bids.
• Analyze blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors on project cost estimates.
• Conduct risk analysis and develop cost-effective solutions.
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends and estimating techniques.
• Provide consultation on planning, scheduling and cost control strategies.
• Regularly report to management on project status, risks, and cost overruns.

Qualifications:

3. 3. Proficiency in estimating software such as OST.
4. 4. Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and equipment.
5. 5. Excellent numerical skills and ability to produce accurate, detailed estimates.
6. 6. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present cost estimates to clients, stakeholders, and team members clearly and convincingly.
7. 7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential cost overruns and propose cost-effective solutions.
8. 8. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
9. 9. High level of professionalism, with a commitment to upholding company standards and ethics.
10. 10. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites as needed.
