Job summary

The S&C Companies is seeking an experienced Piping Estimator in Houston to join our growing mechanical contracting team working on large commercial and data center projects.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in mechanical piping estimating and strong knowledge of HVAC piping and hydronic systems, with experience on data center bid work. You will collaborate with management to develop competitive bids and manage multiple estimates.

Qualifications

• Must have estimating experience on large commercial data center projects.
• 5+ years of mechanical piping estimating experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC piping and hydronic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specs, and blueprints.
• Experience with estimating software such as Trimble AutoBid, FastPIPE, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of labor productivity, material pricing, and subcontractor coordination.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for large commercial mechanical piping projects, including data centers.
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope.
• Perform material takeoffs, labor estimates, and equipment pricing.
• Estimate piping systems including chilled water, condenser water, hydronic piping, process piping.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
• Identify potential project risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering options.
• Work closely with project managers, field leadership, and preconstruction teams.
• Manage multiple bids while meeting deadlines and maintaining estimating accuracy.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Piping Estimator in the Houston area to join a growing mechanical contractor working on large commercial and mission-critical construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical piping estimating, with large-scale data center project experience required. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates, reviewing project plans, and working closely with project management and operations teams to develop competitive bids.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for large commercial mechanical piping projects, including data centers and mission-critical facilities.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope.
• Perform material takeoffs, labor estimates, and equipment pricing.
• Estimate piping systems including chilled water, condenser water, hydronic piping, process piping, and other commercial mechanical systems.
