Construction Estimator - Mission Critical

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our client in a brand new position, specializing in Data Center (and other Mission Critical) construction projects.

This position plays a critical role in the preconstruction phase, developing detailed cost estimates for large-scale builds across multiple markets.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in cost analysis, contract documents, and construction methodologies, along with a strategic mindset to support long-term planning and project success.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for Data Center facilities at various design stages.
• Interpret project drawings, specifications, and technical documents to assess scope and pricing requirements.
• Evaluate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs across diverse geographies.
• Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., project managers, designers) and external stakeholders (e.g., construction managers) to validate estimates and identify cost risks and opportunities.
• Recommend value engineering and design alternatives to optimize costs without compromising quality or performance.
• Monitor market trends in materials pricing and labor rates to maintain up-to-date and competitive cost models.
• Maintain and continuously update a centralized cost database to support estimating accuracy and consistency.
• Contribute to the development of standardized estimating processes, tools, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent field experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in preconstruction estimating or construction management, with a focus on commercial or mission-critical facilities.
• Advanced knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
• Proficient in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage Estimating, or equivalent).
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
• Proven ability to mentor junior staff and support cross-functional initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with data center construction, including mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage systems.
• 6+ years of relevant experience preferred.
