Job summary

Alta Equipment Group is seeking a Construction Equipment Shop Foreman at our Scarborough, ME branch. You will diagnose, repair, and prepare construction equipment while mentoring shop technicians and prioritizing repairs to minimize downtime.

The role emphasizes safety, quality workmanship, and effective communication with management and customers. You will manage tooling, inventory, and training certifications to maximize shop productivity.

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and repairing construction equipment in a service environment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, powertrains, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting tools.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Experience with maintenance management, inventory, or service reporting systems.
• Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
• Technical certifications or manufacturer training preferred.
• Ability to train and mentor others.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office, eServiceTech, Prosis.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair construction equipment including excavators and loaders.
• Inspect mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to identify issues and plan repairs.
• Provide advanced diagnostics and mentoring to shop technicians.
• Lead quality inspections and verify repair effectiveness.
• Manage shop tooling, inventory, and technician training certifications.
• Support shop operations and maintain safety and regulatory compliance.
