Job summary

Tates Rents is hiring a Service Technician to diagnose and repair a wide range of construction and rental equipment. The role focuses on minimizing downtime through efficient troubleshooting and timely maintenance.

You will work on diesel and gas engines, AC/DC electrical systems, and hydraulic/pneumatic components. Responsibilities include on-site service calls, documentation of repairs, and maintaining a safe, organized workspace.

Qualifications

• Proven mechanical experience with engine diagnostics, electrical systems, and hydraulic/pneumatic repairs.
• Must supply own tools relevant to the position.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive relationships with coworkers and customers.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• High level of patience, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Must be able to clearly speak and write in English; proficiency in another language is a plus.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Valid driver’s license required (must be 21 or older for driving-related positions).
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe work environment by prioritizing safety in daily operations.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on construction and rental equipment.
• Diagnose and service hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, diesel, and gasoline-powered systems.
• Respond promptly to on-site service calls.
• Continuously improve technical knowledge of equipment and service procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts, and service activities.
• Keep work areas and service vehicles clean and organized.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
