Job summary

Rabine Compacted Concrete LLC seeks a Construction Equipment Operator to safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery on active job sites, supporting site development, excavation, grading, and material handling. Description

Summary/Objective

The Construction Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy machinery on construction sites to support site development, excavation, grading, material handling, and other project-related tasks. This position requires experience operating equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers, excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, and other heavy construction machinery.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, attention to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.

Essential Functions

Equipment Operation

• Operate heavy equipment including:
  • Front-End Loaders
  • Screeds
  • Skid Steers
  • Excavators
  • Backhoes
  • Bulldozers
  • Graders
  • Compactors and Rollers
• Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and site preparation.
• Load and transport materials such as soil, gravel, sand, asphalt, and debris.
• Perform fine grading and finish work as required by project specifications.
• Assist with demolition and land clearing activities.

Site & Safety Responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre-operation and post-operation equipment inspections.
• Identify and report mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.
• Follow all OSHA and company safety regulations.
• Maintain situational awareness of crew members, utilities, underground lines, and obstacles.
• Ensure proper equipment shutdown and secure storage at the end of each shift.

Maintenance & Documentation

• Perform routine equipment maintenance (greasing, fueling, cleaning).
• Complete equipment inspection reports and daily logs.
• Coordinate with mechanics for major repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Maintain accurate time and material records as required.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with site supervisors, laborers, and other equipment operators.
• Follow project plans, grade stakes, and verbal/written instructions.
• Assist with general labor tasks when equipment operation is not required.

Equipment-Specific Responsibilities

Front-End Loader

• Load trucks with soil, gravel, and construction materials.
• Move and stockpile materials around the job site.
• Assist with concrete plant as necessary
• Perform site clean up as directed

Skid Steer

• Perform tight-area excavation and grading.
• Operate various attachments (augers, trenchers, forks, buckets, breakers).
• Assist with landscaping, backfilling, and small demolition tasks.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Minimum [4] years of experience operating construction equipment.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred, if applicable).
• Knowledge of grade reading and site plans.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently in varying weather conditions.
• Understanding of equipment load limits and operational capabilities.
• Ability to pass drug screening and background check.
• Ability to travel 90%

Work Environment

This position involves working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow. Travel to onsite work locations is required, both within the state and occasionally out of state. Reliable transportation and flexibility with travel schedules are essential. All necessary safety equipment and training will be provided to ensure a secure and productive work environment. This position involves exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and heavy machinery. May require overtime, weekends, and travel depending on project demands.

Physical Demands

Candidates must be comfortable performing physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions year-round. Responsibilities include frequent lifting and carrying of materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, regular climbing and working from ladders, and extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while operating equipment. Must have good vision and depth perception.
