Job summary

Spire Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic, career minded student or recent graduate to join our operations.

This paid internship offers real-world experience in the natural gas industry and a chance to rotate through engineering assignments. You will assist with correspondence across multiple departments, prepare paperwork for gas main and service work, and participate in meetings to coordinate improvements while emphasizing safety, ethics, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be an undergraduate rising junior, senior or graduate level student in Fall 2027 pursuing an engineering degree.
• Must be able to work 35–40 hours per week throughout the summer internship.
• Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
• Microsoft Office proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Opportunity to rotate between various engineering assignments to potentially include.
• Assist with correspondence from Construction and Leak & Maintenance foreman, general foreman, civic inspectors, External Affairs, and other departments regarding the status of jobs and projects.
• Assist with correspondence from outside the Company (municipalities, engineering firms, developers) to process the needed information to coordinate the Company’s facilities with proposed improvements and development.
• Prepare necessary paperwork related to the Company’s procedures for gas main and service work as required, including utility agreements and other documents.
• Attend utility meetings and pre-construction meetings to negotiate with representatives from engineering firms and municipalities to reduce the impact of proposed improvements to the Company’s existing facilities.
• Review the design and cost estimates for all types of main and service work; review delivery pressures; and justify proposed main work.
• Research legacy asset information and reconcile company records and mapping.
• All other duties as assigned.
